(Dirk) Peter Vanderlee "Creativity does what it wants. Genius only does what it can." 56, died peacefully in his home in Tucson, AZ on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Born in Trenton, ON on September 30, 1954, Peter grew up in Kingston, ON, moving to Toronto in the 70's. He was involved in the groundbreaking "Like It Is" publication in the late 70's and by the early 80's, was covering the emerging high-tech industry for the Financial Post.
After freelancing in Ottawa and Toronto, he relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 1998, where his active involvement in the Canada Arizona Business Council, Desert Angels and University of Arizona mentor program cemented him as a respected and well-loved figure within the community. His wit, passion for business and heart of gold will be hard to forget.
Greatly missed, forever remembered, he remains in our hearts; daughter, Jessica Vanderlee, parents, Nicolaas "Niek" Vanderlee and Cornelia "Dickie" Vanderlee; brother, Michael (Aline Brunet) Vanderlee; sister, Linda Vanderlee; nephew, Zachary Vanderlee; niece, Lauren Vanderlee; friends and colleagues. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson, AZ. A wake followed the service at 3439 W. Red Bird Ct. in the Starr Pass Golf Community.
