The "P. Lug" Cup - Peter Vanderlee Memorial Trophy

We (Peter's old hockey mates) created the P.Lug Cup trophy for an annual memorial hockey challenge as part of our regular Sunday morning Rocket hockey (in Weston, Ontario, Canada).

Peter enjoyed many years/beers at Rocket hockey when he came to town; so we're sure he would be laughing at the fact we spray painted his actual jock cup and mounted it on a trophy.

The plaque says:
Weston Red Rockets
P. Lug Cup
In Memory of Peter Vanderlee #747 - Forever in Our Hearts
Sept 30, 1954 – Feb 1, 2011

The P.Lug part comes from the many times we needed a player to be “plugged in” to either team to balance a roster during our mini-tournaments, and Peter was that guy; so he became know as the “Plug”. We actually had the P. Lug name put on the back of a jersey with the number 747, because first there was the Golden Jet (Booby Hull), then the Golden Brett (Brett Hull) and of course the Jumbo Jet (Peter Vanderlee).

After a 2 year hiatus due to pandemic…we finally were able to contest the P. Lug Cup again! Congratulations to Team Purple who won the best of 2 game, total score event at the Weston Hockey Arena.
